Academic profile

Albert Díaz-Guilera has worked in the science of complex systems since the emergence of complex network research in the late 1990s. His contributions to synchronization, community structure and multiplex networks include several influential publications and have earned him recognition as a Fellow of the Network Science Society. He has built and coordinated an internationally connected research group across the University of Barcelona and Universitat Rovira i Virgili, supported by national, Catalan and European projects as well as collaborations with industry. Throughout his career, he has supervised young researchers who have continued in academic and professional research. He also helped establish complexitat.cat and the Universitat de Barcelona Institute of Complex Systems, which he directed from 2016 to 2024. His work further includes academic evaluation, public outreach and technology transfer through data-science and network-science applications.
